Habitat for Humanity Spokane is Hiring a Director of Fund Development Near Spokane, WA

Job Title: Director of Fund Development
Department: Development
Reports To: Chief Development Officer
FLSA Status: Full-time, non-Exempt
Compensation: $57,000 to $59,072 per year
Summary: 
The Director of Fund Development (Director) will oversee the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of Habitat for Humanity-Spokane’s individual giving program. Directly managing the Fund Development and Marketing/Communications Department under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer to provide structure and processes resulting in a successful donor pipeline that effectively acquires, retains, and cultivates donors at all levels of giving. The Director thoroughly understands Habitat for Humanity-Spokane’s goals, mission, philosophy, and policies and demonstrates this understanding in daily tasks and interactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies for annual giving, mid-level giving, and major giving programs to expand the donor base and increase engagement and retention.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Year-over-year increase in giving as well as donor retention and acquisition.
  • Team Management: Under the mentorship of the Chief Development Officer, lead the Community Relations
  • Manager, Volunteer & Faith Outreach Manager, and Marketing & Communications Manager, setting clear objectives, providing support, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • KPI: Team satisfaction and retention rate; achievement of individual and team fundraising goals.
  • Grant writing: Provide grant writing support for the Chief Development Officer and Leadership Team for local, state, and federal funders.
  • Donor Relationship Development: Directly manage relationships with key top-tier donors and oversee personalized communication and engagement strategies across all levels.
  • KPI: Number of donor interactions per month; percentage of donors upgraded to higher giving levels.
  • Fundraising and Solicitation: Oversee the solicitation of major, mid-level, and annual gifts, ensuring compelling proposals and effective stewardship plans.
  • KPI: Total funds raised against targets; average gift size.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage the budget for major, mid-level, and annual giving, aligning spending with strategic goals and forecasting future needs.
  • KPI: Return on Investment (ROI) for each giving program.
  • Performance Analysis: Utilize Raiser’s Edge (RE) RE and RENXT to track and report on fundraising activities, analyzing data to optimize strategies and decision-making.
  • KPI: Accuracy and timeliness of reports; demonstrable adjustments made from insights gained.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Coordinate with other departments and ensure a unified approach to donor engagement and capitalize on cross-promotional opportunities.
  • KPI: Number of collaborative initiatives undertaken; feedback from other departments and Leadership Team.
  • Donor Experience Improvement: Innovate and implement strategies to enhance donor experience across all giving levels, ensuring that donors feel valued and informed.
  • KPI: Donor satisfaction survey results; repeat gift rate.
  • Market and Tool Proficiency: Stay informed of fundraising trends and donor preferences and demonstrate proficiency in using RENXT and RE for donor management and engagement.
  • KPI: Number of professional development hours; proficiency milestones in RENXT and RE.
  • DEI in Fundraising: Lead efforts to diversify the donor base and create inclusive fundraising events and campaigns that resonate with a wide range of audiences.
  • KPI: Increased diversity in the donor base; positive feedback on inclusivity from internal/external stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to legal requirements and ethical standards, maintaining the organization’s integrity.
  • KPI: Compliance rate; absence of legal or ethical complaints.
  • Show a commitment to and respect diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Utilize an equity lens when creating communications. 
  • Promotes the mission of Habitat-Spokane. 
  • Attends Habitat-Spokane events. 
Other:
Support all Habitat-Spokane events through recruitment efforts, administrative support, and other activities as necessary. Please note that the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) provided are suggestions and may be tailored to better align with the specific goals and metrics of the team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Minimum 7 years experience in individual donor fundraising with at least 4 years of direct donor cultivation, team management and successful relationship building and solicitation experience.
  • Experience with RE and RENXT or other CRM software is preferred but not required. Future certification will be required.
  • Aptitude for engaging with donors, and earning and maintaining their confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects with minimal supervision, showcasing strong initiative and self-direction.
  • Proven track record of successfully collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, events, and donor relations, to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Experience in autonomously managing a portfolio of donors while also contributing to team-oriented strategies and goals.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with experience crafting compelling donor correspondence, grant proposals, and fundraising campaign materials.
  • Outstanding verbal communication abilities, including public speaking and one-on-one donor interactions, to effectively articulate the organization’s mission and impact.
  • Strong active listening skills, with a proven ability to understand donor motivations and tailor engagement strategies to various audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex fundraising calendars and coordinating multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
  • Adept at maintaining meticulous donor records and utilizing Raiser’s Edge for effective donor management and analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment, ensuring short-term and long-term projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficiency with office technology and information systems (including Word, Excel, Outlook) and robust understanding of donor database software and moves management systems.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees the Development staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training volunteers: planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. preferred, not required. 
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience using the following software at a proficient level: Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint, Publisher, Web Design, Outlook, Excel, and Word. Having knowledge of Raisers Edge database is a plus.
