POSITION SUMMARY Bradford & Bigelow expects that the Maintenance and Equipment Reliability Manager will act at all times to assure the highest level of personal performance possible, will work enthusiastically to meet or exceed all performance goals, and will help Bradford & Bigelow achieve its mission of being a best-in-class provider in the book manufacturing industry. The Maintenance and Equipment Reliability Manager is responsible for the supervision and efficient functioning of all maintenance-related activities in a manner consistent with the rules and policies established by Bradford & Bigelow. This will include optimizing the maintenance work to maximize equipment uptime and the approval of all mechanical repairs. The Maintenance and Equipment Reliability Manager is responsible for the management of the maintenance team and the safe operation of all processes and machinery in the facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Effectively organizes and manages the daily tasks and schedules of the maintenance crew, including ensuring that holiday staffing is scheduled in advance and that there is always adequate coverage on duty to maintain uninterrupted operations. Takes full responsibility for the maintenance and enhancement of the facility, including cleaning, landscaping, and building upkeep. This involves utilizing internal maintenance resources or working with external contractors to ensure the facility is always operating at its best. Takes full responsibility for the security and access to the facility.
Investigates security incidents and takes proactive measures to ensure the integrity of the building, equipment, and personnel. (e.g., checks security cameras after an incident, ensures all accesses to the facility are controlled) Leads Reliability-related projects by providing expert advice on the frequency and content of Preventative Maintenance Routines, as well as suggesting equipment modifications. Also provides technical support on new CAPEX projects. Takes charge of identifying the need for spare parts, ordering them, receiving them, and keeping an up-to-date inventory of the spare parts stock.
This includes managing the storage and retrieval of parts in an organized and efficient manner. Ensures the best cost-quality option is obtained by obtaining quotes from contractors and selects the most qualified contractor to perform the work. Manages the contractors and the quality of their work to ensure that the facility operates at the highest level of performance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Supervisory Skills Required Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks, issues, and functions simultaneously and to deal effectively with changing priorities.
Demonstrate an analytical approach to problem solving, taking initiative when appropriate. Demonstrate the ability and willingness to instruct and train department staff in the best performance of their duties. Encourage department staff to demonstrate positive and constructive approach to their duties. Lead by example and encourage teamwork among staff.
Strong communication and organizational skills. Be able to work overtime when necessary, especially when restoring production due to equipment issues. Technical Skills Required Advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge and the ability to direct others in those areas. Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
Knowledge of facility and production equipment maintenance and repair methods. Previous experience in a printing environment is preferred, specifically knowledge of web and sheetfed presses and bindery equipment. EDUCATION: Required: Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Preferred: Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Electrical Maintenance, or similar equivalent work experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
