POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening
community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Provides a warm,
enriching environment conducive to the development of infants through pre-school age children.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
He/she must have the understanding and tools necessary to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of children ages 6 months- 5 years old; effective and efficient time management and organizational skills, demonstrate capacity for managing and training staff (subs)and children, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to be flexible to work as a team player, problem solve quickly and effectively, apply common sense, take initiative, ability to work office equipment (copier, computer), understand ethical behavior and business practices, and ensure that own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
At least 19 years of age
Approval by Office of Child Care as an approved Preschool or Infant/Toddler Teacher for theage group you would be working with.
High school diploma with 90 hour Preschool Certification or Infant/Toddler Certification and/or AA Degree in Early Childhood Education (Child Development & Activities I for Preschool or Infants/Toddlers Development and Care)
One year experience working with children in a licensed child care center/ home or school.
Continuing education training hours as required by Office of Child Care and Credentialing (12 hours per year for Office of Child Care) (Employee can choose to apply for assistance from State of Maryland for Credentialing for 13-24 hours for qualifying Credential Levels)
