Wolfram is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Champaign, IL
This position will offer a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of three days onsite required per week. Additionally, a clear employment verification, background check, credit check and education verification will be required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Gathering financial data and related documentation for external accountant use in the preparation of federal and multi-state income tax returns
- Monitoring federal and state income tax legislation and implementing processes and procedures to enable compliance
- Coordinating outsourced sales tax compliance functions
- Ensuring internal processes and procedures support compliance with federal, state and international income, sale and VAT tax regulations
- Reviewing regulatory filings/returns prior to submission to regulatory agencies
- Researching complex tax issues and guiding compliance accordingly
- Monitoring and responding to tax authority communications
- Maintaining sales and VAT tax compliance systems and software
- Completing asset management activities, including depreciation, employee asset assignments and audits
- Completing 1099 reporting and monitoring related legislation
- Maintaining accounting policies and procedures and identifying, recommending and implementing updates as needed
- Performing other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or finance
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including 3 years of federal and state corporate income tax preparation
- Efficiency in tax research
- Exposure to sales and VAT taxes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of initiative and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Mastery of accounting software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong numerical aptitude and problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
