Structure

The Assistant Director, Integrated Marketing, University of Cincinnati Alumni Association (UCAA) is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation and reports to the Director, Integrated Marketing, UCAA.

Focus

The Assistant Director’s primary focus is participating in the implementation of effective multi-channel marketing programs to support the priorities of the UCAA. Additionally, the assistant director will collaborate with a team in the execution of a comprehensive integrated marketing and communications strategy designed to align and galvanize our alumni to advance UCAA priorities. Using an omnichannel approach that incorporates digital and print assets, the assistant director supports the execution of a cohesive brand experience for alumni with an emphasis on promoting engagement and philanthropy intended to yield active participation among UCAA’s more than 340,000 living alumni.

The assistant director is a collaborative, creative, innovative, detail-driven brand and project manager who facilitates the use of creative assets to help UCAA implement its engagement strategy. The assistant director will collaborate on the execution of UCAA’s outreach and engagement marketing projects and digital communications, through digital and print communications, event marketing collateral, copywriting, editing, branded promotional items, social media assets, website management and email marketing.

Specific Duties

  • In partnership with the Annual Giving and Integrated Marketing team, facilitate the development and implementation of a best-in-class, comprehensive, alumni-centered integrated marketing and communications strategy for the UC Alumni Association and alumni giving programs and services:
    • Help Alumni and Annual Giving department staff meet goals for alumni engagement, participation, volunteerism and philanthropy while instilling pride in the University of Cincinnati
    • Ensure that all UCAA marketing materials present a cohesive brand
    • Execute strategies that inform alumni about opportunities to actively engage with UC and UCAA through participation and volunteerism. Infuse an alumni-centric culture of philanthropy in the organization’s marketing strategies
  • Serve as one of UCAA’s brand managers, project managers and content creators on a high-volume integrated marketing team in the execution of a robust content calendar with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines, managing brand standards and engaging alumni.
    • Participate in working committees for UCAA signature events and initiatives, UC Day of Giving, Giving Tuesday and other relevant alumni and annual giving initiatives.
    • Conduct the intake process for new marketing projects, processing requests, determining needs and making suggestions on best practices
    • Utilize project management software to monitor progress and track task completion for a high volume of marketing initiatives. Oversee the flow of projects, serving as a task manager to ensure the smooth execution of processes. Ensure that deadlines are met, budgets are aligned, and content follows the appropriate review and approval process.
    • Manage, coordinate and/or implement marketing collateral for alumni engagement, benefits and loyalty campaigns, print brochures, direct mail, email, website, events and alumni giving campaigns, as needed.
    • Support utilization of graphic design and other freelanced talents by drafting creative briefs and project managing outsourced designers/creatives. Enlist freelance writers in the creation of web stories and press releases, as directed.
    • Manage the approval process of creative assets, both in draft and proof form per established marketing processes and protocols.
    • Manage sourcing and inventory of UCAA promotional items.
    • Secure quotes and reconcile expenses, ensuring purchase order and payment processes are followed for all projects, as directed.
    • Ensure that university, UCAA and UC Foundation brand guidelines are adhered to in all print and digital publications and all collateral is alumni centered.
    • Convey brand voice consistently throughout all messaging
  • Work with staff, volunteers, campus units, and business partners, to support the Association’s comprehensive email marketing program, a high-volume, year-long, segmented outreach schedule.
  • Participate in the execution of alumni engagement and alumni giving digital outreach, including UCAA’s social media platforms, website and other digital media assets for UCAA’s high-volume digital-first omnichannel marketing. Contribute to the execution of a robust digital content calendar with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines, managing brand standards and engaging alumni.
  • Collaborate with the annual giving team on alumni fundraising campaigns as needed. Serve as a member of the Giving Tuesday and UC Day of Giving working groups.
  • Assist with UCAA’s Affinity Partner and Sponsorship program by fulfilling marketing expectations.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Division by producing creative ideas that elevate the success of University Advancement as a whole.
  • Participate in audience development strategy sessions.
  • Validate data and work with leadership to resolve issues.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience in marketing, project management and/or member services in alumni relations, preferably within the context of a higher education institution or a large non-profit organization.
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal and external partners.
  • General understanding of HTML in email marketing and website management
  • Experience in digital and electronic communications including content management, graphic design and Microsoft office products.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite including Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with social networking as a conduit for constituent engagement
  • Proven skills in organizational planning, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications; a persuasive and passionate communicator.
  • Organizational ability and timeliness. Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, produce quality work and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Self-motivated, team-player.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, integrity, honesty and accountability.
  • Must be willing to travel, and work evenings and weekends as needed. Valid driver’s license required for travel.
