Position Overview

Behavioral Health Specialists (BHS’) support the residential milieu by facilitating therapeutic skills and activity groups, providing therapeutic meal support at mealtimes and snacks, assisting residents in acquiring skills to manage their eating disorder, maintaining a recovery-oriented environment, and providing general support and assistance.

The Emily Program has Residential and Outpatient facilities in St Paul, Minneapolis and St Louis Park.

Schedule

0.8 FTE (32 hours a week) rotating weekend schedule.

How BHS’ Empower Recovery

  • Facilitates group programming, including skills groups (including DBT and CBT), self-monitoring, experiential activity groups which may include art activities, music, journaling, mindfulness, relaxation and movement
  • Participates in therapeutic supported meals and snacks and provides milieu support
  • May meet with residents to provide support and provide in the moment skills coaching
  • Ability to engage, challenge, and support residents as needed
  • Supports treatment direction and individualized plans as designed by therapist and treatment team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work or related mental health field required. If degree is not in a mental health related field, a degree in another and equivalent experience required.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive
  • Previous direct mental health experience preferred
