Overview

The Union Payroll specialist will work closely with the payroll, HR, operational and management teams supporting fully cycle payroll for employees across multiple offices. The right candidate for this position is highly skilled in managing all payroll related activities including but not limited to gathering, preparing, and submitting all necessary documents to process the weekly payroll for the company. Must work well with others as a team player, but also able to work alone with minimal supervision. This is a highly technical position which requires technical acumen.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Process weekly payroll across multiple states
• Strong understanding of union time and attendance rules as it relates to base wages and fringe benefits.
• Review new hire records ensuring the organization maintains compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws under multiple union contractual obligations
• Obtain, review, and enter weekly timecards and batches
• Process paper checks as well as direct deposit
• Understanding and familiarity with payroll taxes, benefits, union dues and fringe benefits for unions and prevailing wage areas
• Manage garnishments, 401k deferrals and other payroll related deductions
• Prepare and process timely union payments, payroll tax deposits and required reporting
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for management review
• Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger support
• Detect and process issues related to uncollected payroll, payroll fraud and verifications of employment
• Maintain Federal State and local agency requirements of workforce reporting, registry, and tracking
• Troubleshoot and respond to payroll requests, questions, and issues as they arise
• Respond timely and accurately to workman’s comp audits, union audits and other claims as needed in conjunction with Human Resources
• Communicate timely, concisely, and respectfully with all levels of personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of union payroll required
• Experience in the construction industry required
• Attention to detail a must
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven leadership and interpersonal skill
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Plexxis a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $67,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
