About the Company and Opportunity

Surgical Instrument Service Company has been providing superior sales and repair services to hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country for 53 years. We are a privately held company seeking a Controller to support our continued growth as we build out our Finance department in our Greensboro, NC location. This is a full-time, in-person position reporting to the Director of Finance.

Overview of The Controller Role

· Planning and coordinating all accounting department operational functions to include training and retaining skilled accounting staff

· Overseeing payroll preparation and expense reporting

· Managing the accumulation and reconciliation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting and preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP

· Developing and monitoring key business performance metrics to assist Management with financial decisions and cash management

· Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes to include internal controls and staff assignments as needed

· Coordinating activities of external auditors

· Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA/MSA a plus

· Experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager or assistant controller.

· CPA License

· Several years of public accounting experience

· Working knowledge of business law and regulatory standards (GAAP)

· Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting

· Strong computer skills required

· Ability to lead colleagues with confidence and conviction

· Strong analytical and investigative skills

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to communicate and disseminate information

· Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
