***Duties and Responsibilities***

Receive and follow work schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures

Communicates well both to residents and transportation director for assignments ensuring residents needs are met.

Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures: complying with federal and state legal regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Assist resident in walking to prevent accidents by falling or transports non- ambulatory residents with wheelchair.

Demonstrates knowledge of safe transport techniques

Punctual and attentive to procedure schedules.

Demonstrates caring and cultural sensitivity.

Safety and Sanitation Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor immediately.

Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.

***Experience***

Experience in long term care setting is preferred but not required.

***Specific, Physical and Sensory Requirements***

Ability to safely escort residents in manual wheelchairs.

Ability to stoop, bend, kneel and stretch in confined spaces.

Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.

Must function independently and have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility, which include a medical and physical examination.

Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. Ability to occasionally lift to 55 pounds. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
