Job Description

Fabrication Layout Technicians are responsible for preparing metal parts for fabrication by using information contained on blueprints to scribe layout marks and center marks. Materials used include 10ga to 6" plate and a variety of structural steel shapes. Some tack welding of parts is required. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting and working in awkward positions.

• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and possess basic math skills.
• Accurately perform a variety of marking, scribing, chalking and center-punching lines or punch marks on parts for proper location prior to fabrication.
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding and other work safely in compliance with all company policies.
• Weld mild steel, stainless steel and abrasion-resistant steel, using MIG and stick welding equipment.
• Fabricate a variety of parts from small components to large frames and housings from initial tack-up through final welding and detailing.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area to Company and OSHA standards.
• Set up and operate all welding, preheating and burning equipment.
• Determine proper welding process to apply.
• Meet standard job times.
• Maintain a good work atmosphere by communicating in a positive manner with co-workers.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects.
• May assist in other projects or areas.

Requirements

• Excellent welding and mechanical skills.
• Knowledge of MIG/ARC and stick welding.
• Ability to use plasma cutting torch.
• 1 year welding and cutting experience or participation in or graduation from a technical training program.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes.
• Willing to work overtime throughout the week and weekends.
• Ability to read and understand welding and fabrication drawings and interpret weld symbols.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers and vendors.
• Must possess necessary hand tools to perform assigned tasks.

Pay: $18 to $24 per hour

Schedule: 8-hour shift, day shift, Monday to Friday, OT as required.

Must be able to reliably commute.
