Public Works Maintenance Positions

Silver Spring Township’s Public Works department offers the following employment opportunities outlined below. All Township Public Works employees must possess a valid Driver's License and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Report review at the time of hire. Public Works Maintenance Worker job requirements:

• High School diploma, GED or educational equivalent preferred.
• Ability to obtain CDL license with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire (full-time).
• Valid flagger certification preferred; but required within six (6) months of hire (full-time).
• Ability to obtain Pesticides Certification within six (6) months of hire (parks maintenance only).

Hours may vary depending on the season. All full-time employees are eligible for Township benefits including healthcare, dental, vision, PTO, disability insurance and Township pension.

Roads Maintenance Worker

Responsibilities include road and storm water infrastructure repair, leaf collection, and snow removal. Applicants must be able to operate motorized highway equipment including dump trucks, graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, rollers, tractors and tiger mowers. Class B CDL and prior roadwork experience are preferred. Work may include weekends, evenings and on-call hours during inclement weather.

Parks Maintenance Worker

Responsibilities include mowing/landscaping and the general cleaning and upkeep of Township owned parks and facilities. Must be able to safely operate commercial grade mowing/landscaping equipment. Ability to operate a snowplow and possession of a Class B CDL are preferred as well as a Pesticides Certification. Work may include weekends, evenings and on-call hours during inclement weather.

Seasonal Maintenance Worker

Seasonal Maintenance Workers are responsible for general park maintenance. Must be able to safely operate commercial mowers and other powered landscaping equipment. Selected individuals are preferred to reside within a 15 miles radius of the Township. Seasonal opportunities are available for summer/winter seasons.
