The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for working with clients on a day-to-day basis in a consulting and technical role. The successful candidate will take pride in making a difference in each of our customer's businesses. One of the primary responsibilities is to maintain a high utilization with the ability to transition quickly between tasks. The successful candidate will encounter multiple different IT environments and will need to be able to adapt quickly to meet the needs of the client. Candidate should be able to maintain, monitor, deploy, document, and support each IT environment where multiple workstations and servers may exist. Candidate will encounter issues related to hardware, software, and networking.
Responsibilities:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable network solutions using Cisco routers and switches
• Configure and manage basic BGP configurations for internet routing
• Implement and manage VLANs for network segmentation and security
• Troubleshoot and maintain Port-Channels and EtherChannels for increased bandwidth and redundancy
• Configure and troubleshoot Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to prevent network loops
• Gain experience with data center technologies, including virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox) and storage solutions (SAN, NAS)
• Assist with the configuration and management of VoIP systems, preferably with exposure to 3CX
• Provide technical support and solution design during sales processes
• Contribute to customer education regarding network solutions and best practices
• Assist with the management of network monitoring tools like Zabbix to identify and resolve network issues
• Configuration and management of UPS equipment and SonicWall firewall(s)
• Document network configurations and procedures
• Stay up to date with emerging network technologies through training and professional development
• Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Assist with the planning and execution of cloud migration projects, transitioning existing workloads from on-premises servers to the cloud

Desired Skills:

• Microsoft Server, Exchange Hyper-V and Office 365 migration experience
• Demonstrated experience with Windows Desktop Operating Systems including, but not limited to installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated knowledge of network concepts including TCP/IP
• Thorough knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies, etc.
• Knowledge of Backup Solutions and Connectwise are a plus
• Microsoft and/or Cisco Certifications are a plus
• Experience with server maintenance and troubleshooting, including Dell servers
• Growing knowledge in VMware environments is a plus

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in a networking, pre-sales and systems role or similar IT environment
• Working knowledge of Cisco routing and switching technologies
• Familiarity with BGP, VLANs, Port-Channels/EtherChannels, and Spanning Tree Protocol concepts
• A desire to learn and gain experience with data center technologies, VoIP systems, network security solutions, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and leading technical teams
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Eagerness to learn new technologies
• Ability to understand and meet customer IT goals as set by RTP and the customer
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal directions
• Strong documentation skills are a must
