PSJA Family Clinic, in Pharr, TX is looking for one Medical Office Specialist to join our strong team. We are located on 1536 South Cage Blvd. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and reliable.

Responsibilities

This position is the first contact by prospective patients accessing PSJA Family Clinic providers. The front office receptionist is an expert at providing excellent customer/patient services via phone and in person. This position is considered a crucial link between the patient and the care delivered by clinical and service staff. The incumbent must work collaboratively with all service staff in support of direct patient services, exhibiting flexibility, and embodying a “can do” attitude.

  • Welcomes and greets patients/clients/visitors to the office in a manner that is helpful and friendly; determines purpose of visit and direct patients/clients/visitors to appropriate person or department(s).
  • Proactively engages patients in communicating what to expect with visit and continues to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient.
  • Provides information to patients calling the provider office; transfers calls as needed; works to ensure adequate phone coverage at all times.
  • Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones and data entry.
  • Schedules patient flow to office based on predetermined appointment arrangements to allow the office to serve an adequate number of patients.
  • Carefully schedules appointments and screens patients for new address, new patient visit or update registration and informs patient of adequate information that must be presented at time of visit.
  • Must exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients; practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to HIPAA requirements.
  • Maintains patient waiting areas, office files, and front-desk areas in a manner that is organized and neat.
  • Informs patient of any existing balance noted in computer and request patient be prepare for any payment due at time of visit.
  • Calls patients daily to confirm next day’s appointment.
  • Exercises problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints; refers patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed.
  • Additional work related duties as assigned as determined by the supervisor and/or management. These changes in duties can be either written or verbal.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible.
  • Strong computer skills with experience and proficiency with medical systems.
  • Familiar with general office business machines (e.g., fax, copiers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Strong multi-tasking, planning, organization and execution skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
