NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association is looking for a Strategic Outreach Coordinator to join our Government Affairs team. This position is responsible for Build relevant relationships and collect and analyze information relevant to NTCA’s public policy objectives and rural development interests to explore areas for mutual collaboration. This role is also responsible for developing and managing a database of entities interested in rural broadband policies and rural development issues. They will work to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with federal, state, and local entities with a rural focus in addition to rural community service providers and rural-related industries. This role reports to the Senior Director of Government Affairs. What will you do? Serve as NTCA’s liaison, partnering with and finding common agendas with representatives of business, agriculture and public interest sectors engaged in serving or otherwise promoting the interests and well-being of rural communities such as rural education, health care, agriculture, and economic development entities. Will look for opportunities to benefit development and deployment of rural broadband and other issues of importance to our members. Keep abreast of current federal and state development initiatives and trends and monitors for opportunities where NTCA can partner with other associations and organizations. Stay abreast of policy issues being addressed by division staff and coordinate with division staff to determine how outreach efforts can advance NTCA advocacy efforts and NTCA’s Smart Communities initiatives. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with state government agencies, cooperative entities, rural community service providers and industries for the purpose of collaborating on projects that are mutually advantageous to NTCA members. Prepare articles for a variety of association publications and prepare and send periodic updates to third party entities in the form of an outreach newsletter or some other vehicle. Makes presentations at NTCA meetings, statewide gatherings, and other local forums as necessary. Explore possible summits, roundtable discussions or congressional forums with other rural-based entities on topics related to improving the quality of life in rural America. Perform other special projects or duties, as required. The ideal candidate will have the following position requirements: Understanding and working knowledge of telecommunications industry and rural community and development issues; related software applications and automation tools; and computerized research. Position requires excellent interpersonal and oral & written communication skills; ability to work independently and take initiative; and organizational skills. Practical knowledge, skills & abilities usually acquired through an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience.
