Job Description

The Payments Team is responsible for advocating for the customer retail payments experience and applying operational improvements that deliver significant business value to Nordstrom’s customers. The Nordstrom Payments team’s mission is to ensure all Nordstrom customers have engaging, fast and frictionless payment options to empower the customer shopping journey and instill trust in the shopping experience.

The team works closely with internal clients such as the Nordstrom Full line and Rack Stores, Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, Credit, Customer Service, Finance, Accounting, Technology, Product and Fraud. This team also facilitates the operational relationships with third party payment partners utilized for payment processing and alternative payment solutions.

Essential Functions and Work Duties

The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

  • Provide payments industry guidance and be a subject matter expert in areas such as payment processing/operations, alternative payments, in-store and online payment optimization and emerging fintech solutions. An ideal candidate will have experience in deploying and optimizing payment solutions in retail environments, including both brick and mortar and e-commerce.
  • Own the customer payments experience. Identify points of friction and help build business cases and provide requirements to prioritize projects. Measure and communicate value delivered after implementation.
  • Stay up to date on payments industry changes and trends.
  • Identify areas within the value chain for increased efficiency and cost optimization.
  • Thoroughly understand the standards, concepts and principles of program management to solve practical needs of the business, while independently managing small to moderate programs
  • Proactively manage work execution through program dependencies, risks, schedules, budgets and understand the importance of requirements gathering, prioritization, and clear stakeholder communication
  • Support the execution of the roadmap for major initiatives related to tender acceptance on all Nordstrom sales channels

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-4 years payments industry experience in payments industry is required and a demonstrated understanding of payments technology solutions that span mobile, e-commerce, processing and physical terminal acceptance preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or technology discipline or equivalent combination of related education and experience is required
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment to ensure Nordstrom is meeting the needs and demands of internal and external customers.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado: $80,000- $132,000 annually, Washington: $92,000- $155,000 annuallyThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
