Job Description

The Music Therapist/Instructor at McKnight Place Assisted Living is responsible for drawing upon the unique healing aspects of the musical arts within a therapeutic relationship, to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of the residents, and structure the use of musical strategies to facilitate wellness. The Music Therapist/Instructor also represents McKnight Place Assisted Living to the residents, their guests, families and the community.

• Meet new residents upon move-in to determine their interest in music.
• Maintain documentation and communication between the care team, family, and resident.
• Facilitate group music-related activities, individual music sessions, accept referrals, and provide interventions when needed.
• Facilitate recreational activities within the Activity Department, including but not limited to: distributing daily schedules/newspapers, current events, trivia/discussions, group games, movies, assisting with meals, etc.
• Prepare for activities and ensure the area is restored after.
• Maintain relationships with local music resources.
• Follows policies and procedures as set by the Director of Activities in all areas of duties.
• Previous experience and/or special dementia care training is a plus

Requirements:

• MT-BC from CBMT
• 2 years of Music Therapy experience
• Senior Living experience
