Lourdes Senior Community is Hiring a Grounds Maintenance Near Waterford, MI

The position of Grounds Crew performs routine and extensive grounds keeping and building maintenance duties on all building and facilities. This position requires experience working on formal grounds and the ability to maintain equipment used in the process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain lawns, shrubs, and trees on campus.
  • Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs following sketches and designs when available
  • Water and fertilize lawns, shrubs, and flowers
  • Clean grounds and remove litter
  • Maintain paths and road surfaces
  • Perform ground maintenance duties using ground maintenance equipment
  • Must know how to maintain equipment
  • Shovel snow from walks and driveways, spread salt and sand on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup
  • On call for emergencies (e.g. snow removal)
  • Participates in different projects
  • Prepares areas for events (picnics, scheduled gatherings)

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an appropriate driver’s license
  • High school graduate preferred
  • Knowledge of grounds keeping is required
  • Skill to drive trucks, transport tractors and other maintenance equipment and to operate heavy power equipment
  • Ability to use, sharpen and make minor repairs to tools and equipment
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions; and follow simple landscape sketches and designs
  • Ability to communicate, follow directions and work with other personnel
  • Ability to deal with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, resident, family members, visitor, government agencies/personnel and the general public
