Meals on Wheels Orange County is the largest nonprofit provider of nutrition and supportive services for at-risk older adults. It is committed to erasing hunger and loneliness for at-risk older adults through nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks, and keeping families together through day services. Through its critical services, the organization delivers nearly 2 million meals to 20,000 at-risk older adults each year throughout Central and North Orange County. Meals on Wheels Orange County is a dba of Community SeniorServ, Inc.

We are excited to share the hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00 hour, exclusive of fringe benefits. If you are hired at MOWOC, your final compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience in addition to internal pay. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.


JOB SUMMARY: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the organization safety and risk management prevention program including, but not limited to, assisting with performing accident and / or injury investigations, risk assessment, safety regulation enforcement, writing standard operational procedures, hazardous materials management, and injury / accident claims management. Provide, maintain, and track Safety and Training records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide operational observation and support, ensuring compliance and continued safety culture development.
  • Manage accident and injury claims; compile and evaluate relevant information and evidence; review accident/injury reports and prepare recommendations regarding appropriate action for safety violations; determine the preventability status of accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure all Drivers have proper training in driving, safety, loading, tie-downs, etc.
  • Assist with the implementation of effective training programs for all staff; training program includes new hire, refresher, and remedial training to enforce safe work habits, maximize safety, and protect the organization property.
  • Prepare and maintain records, files, reports, and documentation related to safety and training activities.
  • Develop standard operational procedures and processes for kitchen equipment
  • Train staff on standard operational procedures and processes for all kitchen equipment Maintain safety bulletin and information boards; develop and maintain current handouts, literature, and reference materials related to safety and training.
  • Assist with facilities related projects as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two to five years of work-related experience.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish required.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexibility to drive to multiple locations.
  • Valid California Driver License.
  • Constantly extends body, arms or hands as needed to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Constantly speaks, communicates, interprets or exchanges information accurately.
  • Constantly perceives objects over moderate or long distances, with or without accommodation.
  • Occasionally moves, transports, and positions objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
