LARC Lansing is Hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP)-Community Day Services Near Lansing, IL

LARC is a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing individuals with developmental disabilities opportunities to work, live, and participate in their community. LARC has been an established and active organization in Lansing, Illinois since 1956.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to assist in maximizing the person's strengths, interests, and abilities. DSPs provide support and supervision in a group setting that includes daily living supports, community activities, and enrichment activities with a person-centered approach.

The Community Day Service program is actively seeking people-oriented, energetic candidates to join our team. Full-time openings are available.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to pass a Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
  • Valid Drivers' License
  • Valid Auto Insurance
  • Ability to drive agency vehicle (mini-van)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to attend two weeks of new hire training during daytime hours
  • Ability to attend ongoing monthly training during daytime hours
  • Physical ability to lift, stand for long periods of time, push, pull, reach, bend
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule preferred
  • Experience with I/DD population preferred

Job Types: Full-time

LARC will provide new employees with two weeks of classroom training (during daytime hours) and 80 hours of on-the-job training and coaching. LARC is committed to the development of employees through on-going training, support systems and coaching.
