POSITION OVERVIEW Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment which fosters individual development, choices, and growth. Provide appropriate emotional, medical, physical, vocational, social, and educational support designed to meet the need and desire as outlined in the individuals IP/ISP. Monitor for outcome and report findings to the team for revision purposes to ensure the individual can be as independent as possible. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Programming- 40%

Vocational Curriculum (Self Discovery and Personal Growth, Workplace Realities, Managing a Job Search, Networking and Informational Interviewing, Career Exploration and Job Seeking.
Encourage individual empowerment through choice making.
Maintain and secure all financial information and monies for the individuals as required by policy/procedure.
Provide appropriate positive behavior supports to prevent and appropriately redirect negative behavior. Create an environment to best prevent negative behavior. Inform staff of targeted or escalating behavior and situations that address health and safety.
Provide constant active programming that focuses on employment first, vocational/pre-vocational skills, and continuing education.
Work cooperatively with all staff, including vocational instructors and management team, particularly regarding vocational activities, ex) instruction on stocking vending machine.
Support, and assist and lead activities with the Vocational Instructor
Work cooperatively with associates, including vocational instructors, job coaches, management team, particularly regarding lab activities.
Responsible for stepping in to other roles within the day program setting as requested (i.e. working as a Monitor on routes).
Quality Outcomes- 20%
Implement individualized programs that will ensure participants attain and maintain community employment as per the individual's person centered planning.
Report all Unusual and Major Unusual incidents according to agency policy/procedure.
Complete appropriate, professional and thorough incident reports and progress notes
Participate in investigations as required per policy/procedure.
Conduct and document fire drills as required.
Conduct and document emergency drills as required.
Participate in all regulatory and compliance reviews as required.
Participate in the IP/ISP process by communicating individual's success and issues to the immediate supervisor.
Document all individual information as required by policy/procedure.
Staff Development- 10%
Attend all mandatory associate trainings to enhance personal competencies of the individuals and agency.
Ensure completion of all on- line trainings in the College of Direct Support (CDS), within the required deadline.
Participate in agency programs that teach professional growth.(CIP,CAP)
Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKENVIRONMENT
Must wear proper personal protection equipment during individuals' personal care and cleaning at the site (i.e. gloves).
Ability to lift, pull, push, or carry 50 lbs., crouch, bend, stand, climb stairs and be alert.
Perform tasks that may require stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, or twisting.
Requires full range of motion of arms, hands, and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist to assist with any daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, household tasks, shopping, personal care, and behavior supports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 21 yrs of age
High School Diploma or GED
Must be able to read, write, and operate agency computer systems and equipment
Valid Ohio Driver's License
Must comply with organization driving requirements
Must have own vehicle available to transport individuals when needed
Must have proof of vehicle liability insurance
Must obtain Koinonia's medication administration certification
