ABOUT THE POSITION:

JCDS seeks candidates for a full-time, in-person, Coordinator of the Middle School, for the
2024-2025 school year. The Coordinator of the Middle School will serve as a strategic thought
partner for the Associate Head of School and other members of the Educational Leadership
Team, and will collaborate closely with the faculty and staff. The Coordinator will collaborate
with the Associate Head of School, overseeing the Middle School’s educational program,
including the mission, culture, traditions, and commitment to intentional pluralism. The
Coordinator of the Middle School must also establish and uphold clear standards and high
expectations while forming positive and trusting relationships with students, colleagues and
parents. Candidates should possess a commitment to upholding Jewish values. The candidate
should possess excellent communication, organization and class management skills and
should demonstrate a desire to work collaboratively with colleagues in the classroom to create
a joyful, Jewish learning community.

This is an in-person, full-time position starting in July 2024 and will report to the Associate Head
of School for Learning & Teaching. We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with relevant
work experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Coach for teachers
  • In collaboration with the Associate Head of School, develop and map curriculum, as well
as support teachers in best practices.
  • Meet regularly with advisors to develop a research based, developmentally appropriate
advisory program.
  • Lead a cohort of faculty members committed to developing a health and wellness
curriculum.
  • Commit to the formation of authentic, collaborative relationships with colleagues and
involve them in the development and clarification of policies and procedures.
  • Plan weekly meetings and professional development opportunities for teaching faculty.
  • Teach a class and/or elective
Collaborative Responsibilities
  • In partnership with the Director of Learning Support and Associate Head of School, work

to ensure that a range of diverse learners is served by the curriculum, instruction, and
faculty.

  • In partnership with the Associate Head of School, implement and maintain Middle
School curricular and instructional improvements.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Head of School, and the advisors, work to ensure
student needs are supported as well as behavioral expectations are upheld.
  • In partnership with the Associate Head of School, support the Middle School faculty
growth through annual goal setting, peer coaching, and professional development.
Professional Development, Growth, and Training
  • Attend, participate and co-facilitate all faculty/staff work-day programs, in-service

training (including August and June in-service days), orientation programs, seminars,
and safety training/drills

  • Pursue professional development opportunities in or out of school; display willingness
and ability to grow, learn, and practice self-reflection; work with the Associate Head of
School and other faculty and administration members on educational and pedagogical
growth and innovative tools and techniques in and out of the classroom
  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree and 5 years of teaching experience
are preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A commitment to student-centered, mastery-based teaching

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation, including but not limited
to computers, telephones, electronic calculators, copy machines, and printers. Stooping,
bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods are common.
