JOB TITLE: Audio Head/Sound Board Operator
REPORTS TO: Audio Supervisor
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
COMPENSATION RATE: $32.14 per hour
LOCATION: 170. N Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601
POSITION SUMMARY: The Goodman Theatre seeks an experienced Audio Head/Sound Board Operator for the Albert Theatre. This individual will program and operate the sound console for productions and events in the Albert Theatre and work as a sound technician during changeovers in the Albert (and sometimes in the Owen when the schedule allows). An ideal candidate will be well organized, punctual, professional, and work well as a member of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load in/out and work shows as assigned.
Program the sound console during tech rehearsals, working to effectively implement the Sound Designer’s vision in an efficient and calm manner.
Run sound console for productions in the Albert, maintaining the show through closing.
Additional work as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
4 years of professional experience in sound engineering/live production mixing with large format audio mixers and speaker management systems.
Proficiency in programming Digico sound consoles.
Excellent skills in QLab Sound control and Apple macOS computer-based systems.
Strong understanding of digital audio interfaces, Dante and MADI networked systems, wireless microphones, theatrical rigging and hanging speakers.
Experience with Line mixing.
Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. and be comfortable working at heights including catwalks, ladders, and Genie Lifts.
Working knowledge of backstage procedures and performance etiquette.
Able to work collaboratively as a team member and maintain a positive, supportive attitude in high pressure situations.
