Job Description Job Description Location: San Antonio (Medical Center)Job Summary/Objective:Schedules appointments for patients by telephone for a high-volume multi-physician specialty care practice by performing the following duties.Essential Job Functions:Answers all incoming telephone calls and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage telephone encounter for response by medical personnel.Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.Records when appointments have been filled or canceled.Maintains accurate physician and audiologist schedules.Reschedules all patients affected by physician schedule changes within 24 hours of notification or within 4 hours if changes are for the next days patient schedule.Gather all demographic and insurance information to verify eligibility.Maintains phone system for operational purposes.Assist with referral and online appointment scheduling when needed.Completes transfer of phones to night service and retrieves from service in the mornings.Maintains communication with answering service regarding messages, physician on-call schedule and changes to our routine operations schedule.Other duties may be assigned.Required Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GEDAt least one year of medical front office or healthcare experience.Knowledge of HIPPA and PHI regulations and requirements.Knowledge of insurance verification process.Understanding of documentation required for physician appointments.Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems.Awareness of ICD-9 and ICD-10 CPT codesMust demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.Excellent customer service skills.Preferred Education and Experience:Bilingual (English/Spanish)Experience using E-Clinical Works (ECW).Some previous work experience in an ENT clinic.Work Conditions:Work is performed in a fast paced medical/clinical environment.Requires sitting in front of a computer and phone for more than six (6) hours per day.AAP/EEO StatementIn order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at TENTS will be based on qualifications and job-related abilities.
