Cook County Offices Under the President is Hiring a LEAD CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (DEPARTMENT OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT) ACTIVELY RECRUITED Near Chicago, IL

Manage building trades in construction projects and maintenance work assignments. Perform as the construction and maintenance representative with user groups and tenants of County facilities. Coordinate staffing and materials for work assignments and projects. Act as a liaison with outside contractors and vendors, resolve problems for user groups. Advise leadership on project status and ensure safe practices and County policies are enforced and followed. Communicate and coordinate regarding construction matters. Facilitate resolution of challenging situations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Construction Management, Construction Science or Engineering is required?
  • Five (5) years in the Construction Industry, or Facilities/Property Management Field, or directly related experience is required?
  • Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance is required?

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of current industry standards and regulations, trades construction materials and systems, and knowledge of financial accounting methods, and management and leadership principles. Ability to plan, organize, manage, and evaluate the work of the division to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective
services. Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and drawings. Ability to manage multiple projects and groups of people. Ability to manage the performance of processes and/or operations. Ability to lead within the established objectives and make decisions regarding daily priorities and the application of technical/business processes for a work group or segment of a department. Ability to set overall direction and hold staff accountable for accomplishing work objectives by fostering positive relationships between employees, leadership, and stakeholders. Ability to use organizational and/or department objectives and goals to identify processes by which to meet those goals.
