How you can make an impact: The Child Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic interventions, counseling, and support to children and adolescents experiencing various mental health challenges and behavioral issues. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address the unique needs of each client. The Child Therapist collaborates with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for clients.

What you will do:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of children and adolescents.
  • Utilize standardized assessment tools, clinical interviews, and observation to gather relevant information.
  • Identify underlying factors contributing to clients' presenting issues, such as trauma, family dynamics, or environmental stressors.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical diagnosis.
  • Collaborate with clients and their families to establish treatment goals and objectives.
  • Incorporate evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the unique needs and developmental stages of each client.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions using various modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness techniques.
  • Foster a therapeutic environment that promotes trust, empathy, and positive rapport with clients.
  • Help children and adolescents develop coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communicate regularly with clients' families, caregivers, and other professionals involved in their care, such as teachers, physicians, and case managers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review client progress, discuss treatment strategies, and coordinate care plans.
  • Provide consultation and psychoeducation to parents and caregivers to enhance their understanding of their child's mental health needs and how to support them effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality, informed consent, and mandated reporting of child abuse or neglect.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policies.

Who you are and the expertise you bring:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with specialization in children and adolescents.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing therapy to children and families in a clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, psychopathology, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with children and adolescents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in conducting clinical assessments and developing treatment plans.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing the practice of clinical social work with minors.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advancements in the field of child and adolescent mental health.
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements
  • Bilingual and fluent in Spanish is a plus
