We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Paralegal - Transactional. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $8,726 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The salary range for this classification is $4,348 to $10,329 per month.

Position Information
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Paralegal - Transactional to be responsible for assisting Office of General Counsel attorneys in their professional work involving the full range of transactional legal issues confronting the CSU.
Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, Office of General Counsel, the Paralegal - Transactional will:
  • Assist Office of General Counsel attorneys in their professional work involving the full range of transactional legal issues confronting the CSU.
  • Draft, review, and revise contracts or contract extensions/modifications to ensure internal and external compliance and accuracy.
  • Work with various stakeholders to create and finalize contracts, including gathering signatures and tracking and maintaining contracts.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for contract compliance, including public contracting.
-Assist Office of General Counsel attorneys with various specialty areas within the office - e.g., Public Records Act requests, improper use of the CSU name, Title IX, Legislation, and database management.
  • Conduct research, draft documents, assist with gathering, organizing, and analyzing documents and other information, prepare charts, reports, graphs, summaries, and PowerPoint presentations, and respond to various requests.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws with respect to transactional legal work and public contracting.
  • Interact with various constituents within the Office of General Counsel, CSU, and the public.
  • Work with, delegate assignments, and provide feedback for support staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
The transactional paralegal is a nonexempt employee and is required to work under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, attorneys, and lead paralegal, with a significant amount of independence. Using their own judgment and knowledge, they are expected to determine the most appropriate approach to the subject assigned and allocate time and resources to the completion of the required work accordingly.
The transactional paralegal reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, who is responsible for their evaluation and jointly supervises their work with the attorneys and lead paralegal. They are expected to contribute to the mission of the office and may, from time to time, be asked to assume responsibilities outside of their principal functions.
Qualifications
This position requires:
  • The transactional paralegal is required to have a Bachelor's degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program.
  • Minimum seven years of recent paralegal experience in California.
  • Transactional, contract and commercial experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NetDocs, eCounsel, and Westlaw strongly preferred.
  • Public agency experience is a plus.
  • Higher education experience is a plus.
  • Some travel may be required.
The incumbent will be permitted to work in-person at the Chancellor's Office or via a California-based remote work location for the duration of 2023, but work locations are subject to change as circumstances warrant. The incumbent may be required to work in person on certain dates at management's discretion. The incumbent must reside within the State of California upon commencement of employment.
