Beaver Excavating is Hiring a Foreman Near Canton, OH

Foremen are responsible for organizing and directing on-site crew work. This position ensures the crews are in compliance with the company's safety program and ensures that the work performed meets or exceeds the quality requirements of the client.

Location

This position works at various construction job site locations in OH, WV, and PA. Both daily and overnight travel is required.


Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Understands and enforces company safety policies · Provides oversight direction to crews and/or subcontractors · Ensures quality of work performed by crews · Completes daily time-sheets and field reports · Inspects incoming materials for quality, accuracy, completeness and contract compliance Skills & Requirements: · Knowledge of safe construction methods and procedures · Basic ability to construct (build) · Good written and verbal communication skills Education & Experience: · Vocational or construction management training a plus · First aid/CPR certification · 5-8 years of experience in chosen construction specialty
  • Prior crew and subcontractor management experience
  • Competent Person training
  • 30 Hour OSHA certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of grade checking and understanding of surveying information
  • Leadership and management abilities
  • Understands plans and specifications
  • Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company
  • Ensures crews are working at maximum efficiency during shift hours and leads by example
  • Works with senior foremen and/or superintendents to complete short interval schedules
  • Prepares schedules for needed personnel, materials, equipment and subcontractors
  • Conducts daily JSA to recognize safety hazards associated with the daily tasks and educates crews of hazards

  • Proficient with computer software applications
  • Understanding of and ability to analyze and interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to conduct meetings and speak effectively before groups, clients, subcontractors and others
  • Ability to read plans, effectively use cost reports and schedule
  • Understanding and utilization of Best Practices/Lessons Learned using established lists, creating new practices and striving for continual improvement
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere
  • Demonstrates respect for coworkers and customers
  • 30 Hour OSHA certification
  • First aid/CPR certification

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational or construction management training a plus
  • Minimum 5 years in direct field work, preferably in management/foremen level
  • Expertise in plan reading, planning and understanding of project specifications
  • Prior training in office operations and procedures
  • Estimating experience
