Lead Teacher Job Description:

To ensure the health and safety of all children, teachers must be aware of the importance of CDC Health & Safety Covid-19 Protocols and adhere to them AT ALL TIMES. SUPERVISION is one of the MOST IMPORTANT roles that early learning professionals perform, AT ALL TIMES. You must agree to adhere to all PA Department of Human Services, City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Health Department, and Office of Child Development and Early Learning regulations. You must apply developmentally appropriate practices while maintaining all Amazing Kidz Academy LLC’s policies, and Keystone Stars guidelines, as a High-Quality Early Learning professional.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.

2) Attend to children's basic needs

3) Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.

4) Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

5) Read books to entire classes and to small groups.

6) Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.

7) Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists.

8) Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development. Use Ages and Stages within the first 45 days of enrollment. Use Child Service Report and any other Office of Child Development and Early Learning provided to staff by Amazing Kidz Academy LLC.

9) Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.

10) Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.

11) Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children.

12) Demonstrate activities to children.

13) Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.

14) Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

15) Organize and label materials, and display students' work

16) Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

17) Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.

18) Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of preschool programs.

19) Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

20) Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.

21) Provide administration staff with classroom inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies.

Education Requirements

Lead Teacher: Minimum of an associate degree in early childhood education or a Related Field: Candidates must have completed at least an associate degree in early childhood education or a closely related field. The degree should be from an accredited institution. Relevant fields may include Child Development, Early Education, Elementary Education, or a similar discipline.

Experiences: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a lead teacher.

Required Skills:

All staff must have the ability to lift at least 30-pound, pivot quickly, be able to sit on the floor with children or in chair to be on the children’s level, and respond quickly to prevent injury. Initial here to certify that you are able to do these things: ________________.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
