Essential Functions

• Provide and maintain an outstanding customer experience that can only be found at Al’s Garden and Home for all guests who enter the retail location.
• Demonstrate and communicate accurate knowledge of plant material and where it is located on the tables.
• Assist customers with possible plant combinations and design tips.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of Tree & Shrub department which includes plants, tables and floor space.
• Ensure all products in all assigned areas receive water, nutrients, maintenance, stocking and other care activities.
• Ensure sufficient and accurate signage is in the Tree & Shrub department.
• Develop knowledge of other departments to offer cross-departmental customer service including Annuals, Perennials, fertilizers and soil amendments in order to give customers the very best opportunity of success.
• Ability to assist in other areas of the greenhouse when needed. 
• Embrace a safety culture of injury and accident prevention by following safety policies and procedures.
• Achieve daily goals as communicated by the store management.
• Assist with all other related tasks or duties as assigned by store management.
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Knowledge of tree and shrubs or the willingness to seek and learn product.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of computer software: Excel, Word, POS system.
• Ability to analyze situations, identify problems and implement solutions, and to effectively supervise the work of other associates.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends with overtime during busy peak seasons.

Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to work standing, walking, bending, and lifting 50 lbs. continuously throughout the day.

Work Environment

This job can operate on the sales floor, indoor and outdoor, and in an office environment as business requires.
