Job Summary
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Drivers will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other materials of trade to our customers. You will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to you, as well as working closely with other team members and customers. During peak season it will be required that drivers have the ability to work extended days and weekends and work out of town. A Class A or B CDL commercial driver license is required. Successful candidates must have a clean driving record; drivers will be subject to random drug testing per federal guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Drive long distances to deliver goods to appropriate sites.
* Load and unload cargo in a safe and efficient manner using proper equipment.
* Refuel, add fluids as necessary and clean vehicle.
* Follow all traffic laws.
* Follow accident procedures.
* Inspect trucks and record issues.
* Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
* Plan routes using GPS system.
* Maintain a positive attitude with customers and fellow employees
* Keep commercial driver license up to date and maintain MVR safety requirement.
* Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and utilization of standard hand tools for minor repairs and/or maintenance such as greasing, brake adjustments and safety checks.
* Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and standard work attire which includes 8" leather boots, full-length pants and shirts with sleeves.
Minimum Job Requirements
* Class A or B CDL or commercial driver license or the ability to obtain a commercial license.
* Must maintain a current CDL Heath Card.
* Must maintain the driving standards as outlined in the vehicle insurance policy.
* Must provide current MVR.
Minimum Education and Experience
* High school diploma preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
* Have the ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
* Bend at the waist and stoop on a regular basis.
* Reach overhead on a regular basis.
* Have the ability to climb in and out of a truck box on a regular basis.
* Ability to read and write effectively for proper understanding of road signs, construction signs and communication while on job sites.
* Must be able to work in high heat and at times dusty environments.
