BASIC FUNCTION: TheBuilding and Grounds Specialist performs environmental service tasks, cleaning and maintenance of building, minor mechanical repairs and set-up and clean-up for day and evening events. This position assists in providing a safe, clean working environment for office staff.
EXPERIENCE: No related work experience is required. On the job training is provided to the employee in all major aspects of the job.
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of tools applicable to trade, operation of all equipment required in performance of the job, safety precautions applicable to trade. Knowledge of the application, use and storage of all chemicals used in the performance of the job, knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials, knowledge of floor, upholstery and carpet care.
SKILLS: Excellent communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, must be able to multi-task and possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures, ability to use a variety of cleaning techniques utilizing appropriate chemicals and cleaning solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential duties are marked with asterisk)
*1. Perform duties associated with collection of trash; including but not limited to daily trash collection, collection of recycling, preparation of cardboard boxes for recycling, weekly delivery of recycling.
*2. Maintain adequate supplies in the kitchen/breakroom area; including the replenishment of plastic utensils, paper products, coffee, tea, sugar, dairy products, and a variety of snacks, replenish soda and water supply daily as needed.
*3. Maintain adequate supply of paper products and hand soap in all bathrooms.
*4. Maintain adequate supply of cleaning products for building.
*5. Restock office supplies in all departments; including but not limited to Tourbooks, maps, brochures and copy paper.
*6. Perform duties as needed associated with cleaning of the building; including but not limited to stairwells, vacuum carpeting, wet mop hard surfaces, dry mop stockroom, clean glass windows as needed, clean and sanitize restrooms, dust cabinets and fixtures, remove scuff marks from floors.
*7. Perform set up and take down for office events.
*8. Deliver packages to appropriate associates and/or departments daily.
*9. Maintain message changes on manual outdoor signs.
*10. Perform duties associated with water curtain; including but not limited to drainage of water tank, cleaning of entire unit, fresh water refill and start-up.
*11. Maintain outdoor flags; raise, lower and replace damaged flags as needed.
*12. Replace light bulbs throughout the building as needed.
*13. Perform duties associated with AAA truck used for general errands; included but not limited to routine maintenance, annual inspection, wash/vacuum.
*14. Perform errands as needed; grocery store, Sam's Club, post office, etc.
*15. Deliver financial statements to Board of Directors as needed.
*16. Responsible for shredding company documents throughout the year.
*17. Maintain outdoor office walkways throughout the day in inclement weather.
*18. Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL work - Requires prolonged standing. Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to climb ladders and retain balance at reasonable heights.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Reasoning - Logical thinking leading to conclusion believed to be accurate
Remembering - To recall, to retain in memory.
Mathematical Ability - Ability to perform math in an accurate, precise manner.
Language Ability - Means of expressing or communicating thought.
Reading, writing, speaking, overall language ability, must be fluent in all aspects of the English Language.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Criminal Background Testing - All potential Building and Grounds employees are required to complete and clear a criminal background check.
Drug/Alcohol Testing - All potential employees are required to complete and clear a drug/alcohol test.
Assessment Testing - All potential employees may be required to complete and pass an assessment test.
