How you’ll make an impact:

In this role, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, configuration and upgrading of multiple site wide control systems such as Rees Scientific EMS, Siemens BMS and Metasys BMS. This role will be the Business System Owner for the above-mentioned systems.

About the team:

The facilities management team supports all operational aspects of our Cambridge and Seattle facilities including R&D, Manufacturing and Quality Control laboratories. 

How you’ll spend your time:

• Take responsibility as the system owner of multiple complex control and or monitoring systems used throughout the facility.
• Execute all hardware and software upgrades and replacements multiple site monitoring systems to ensure/maximize its reliability and capabilities.
• Maintain all configuration specifications and manage all changes to the control systems per approved change control processes.
• Perform all routine and emergency maintenance and repairs to the control systems to minimize its downtime and data loss
• Supervise all hardware and software additions to the Control Systems to ensure that all work meets department standards.
• In partnership with IT, assure that the integrity of all data storage and reporting functions on the control systems are maintained to ensure maximum system efficiency and minimize data loss.
• Interact with a wide stakeholder base and partner with the IT System Owners to ensure the systems remain current and applicable
• Maintains all records and documentation for process control systems in order that users can take full advantage of their capabilities.
• Reconfigure/reprogram portions of the control system software as needed to improve its utility, performance and efficiency.
• Perform troubleshooting and repair services to many of the instrumentation systems supporting the site utility systems to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
• Provide programming, configuring and troubleshooting services for multiple microprocessor based control systems to maintain and improve system operation and efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date instruction manuals, spare parts lists, schematics, drawings, etc. on all instrument systems and equipment used on site to facilitate required repairs.
• Assist in the review and acceptance of newly installed and commissioned instrument systems to ensure that all systems are designed and operating properly prior to acceptance.
• Provide instrumentation consulting services to the operations, maintenance, engineering and customer groups as needed to assist each group with its daily function.

Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or instrumentation engineering field with three to five years’ experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of process instrumentation and automation systems
• 3-5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research/development environment.
• Strong familiarity with cGMP's and the pharmaceutical industry required.
• Experience with environmental monitoring systems such as the Rees Scientific EMS or Siemens Building Management System.
• Ability to evaluate various instrument related problems and propose or carry out solutions.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work on multiple tasks with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and writing.
• Advanced knowledge of computer-controlled process systems, hardware and software.
• Strong communication skills required to disseminate critical information to team and keep lab constituents well informed.
• Strong organizational and planning skills required.
