SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, assists and provides support with implementation of youth and adult recreation programs. Directly responsible for the supervision and assistance in planning, promoting and executing youth and adult sports programs. May assist in the planning and directing of special events, sports and official’s clinics, and tournaments. Will perform work related to the promotion of the City of Delta. This person will work towards preserving and enhancing our community while supporting all areas of marketing, social media, community interaction, and events. The position will work across multiple platforms in social media, print, radio, and video and will require moderate activity and the person will need a flexible schedule when dealing with events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Plans, organizes, promotes youth and adult sports programs, leagues, special events, official’s clinics and tournaments.
· Create and manage tournament brackets
· Assist in the recruitment, training, assigning and supervision of sports staff and volunteers.
· Provide ongoing site training to sports staff, field prep staff and volunteers
· Assures quality in all sports programs by enforcing policies and rules fairly.
· Maintains a standard of excellence in sports programs by being responsive to suggestions and changes.
· Advises Community Engagement Manager of needed changes to policies, procedures and rules
· Schedules and directs personnel engaged in sports field prep and maintenance.
· When necessary, makes periodic and/or special reports, i.e.: accident and incident reports; maintains records in regards to operations and game/event results.
· Asst. with hiring and training new employees.
· Mentors employees maintaining high employee morale.

· Knowledge of basic rules and operations of youth and adult sports programs
· Knowledge of the methods of developing and organizing sports leagues and tournaments and instructional sports programs.
· Working knowledge of the methods involved in organizing, conducting, instructing, and supervising sports and recreational program.
· Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents, coaches, volunteers, subordinates, sponsors, and co-workers via face-to-face, telephone and e-mail.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Publisher.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective operating records and reports.
· Ability to perform moderate physical work and to lift 50 pounds and to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to stand, walk, twist, reach, climb, bend, kneel, grasp and perform a variety of similar body movements.
· Possess hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to perform computer work and class instructions.
· Ability to read instructions, observe conditions and instruct.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, department directors and the general public.
· Ability to perform duties and responsibilities unsupervised.
· Will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check; possess a valid Colorado driver’s license, and certification in CPR and first aid or able to obtain certification within six months of hire.
· Schedule will include early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays. Daily split shift may be required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· High School graduate or equivalent.
· Three (3) years progressive experience/responsibility in organized sports activities including one (1) year progressively responsible supervisory experience.
· OR -
· Associates or Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, Marketing, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience in organized sports activities with a minimum of one (1) year progressively responsible supervisory experience preferred.
