Housing Opportunities for Women is Hiring a Housing Liaison Near Chicago, IL

POSITION TITLE: Housing Liaison

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Senior Property Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position ensures the successful coordination and execution of the Agency’s scattered site supportive housing programs and serves as a vital link between the Agency participants, management companies and support services staff. This position is responsible for managing all work order requests (standard and emergencies) and maintaining a professional and courteous relationship with all stakeholders. The Housing Liaison must possess a strong attention to detail, patience, compassion and commitment to HOW’s mission.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive all work order requests, including from Clients, Case Managers, Housing Quality Inspectors, Landlords/PMs, and gather additional information if needed.
  • Process work order requests by tracking in Yardi, submitting to Landlord/PM for work, following-up and escalating work orders that have expired/are not addressed according to RLTO guidelines.
  • Coordinate unit turnover services for vacant units, ensure completion and submit appropriate payments
  • Write and send checks, receipts and notices to residents including, but not limited to notices about inspections and non-compliance issues
  • Maintain tenant files by filing paperwork in the office, including updated leases, unit inspection forms, rent reasonableness forms, rent calculations and memos with all required documentation
  • Collect, enter and validate data in Yardi, company database ensuring scans of all client files are present in client records
  • Assist with monthly reports, lease generation and rent requests
  • Point of contact for landlords / property management companies regarding work orders and unit repairs
  • Communicate feedback from Landlords/PMs regarding program participants to appropriate caseworkers
  • Introduce participants to units and turnover keys
  • Maintain existing relationships with landlords and management companies
  • Provide instructions to clients regarding tenant rights and responsibilities
  • Provide on-going housing counseling services to clients
  • Assist with Key Management: Key sign-out and distribution
  • Respond to after hours lock out requests
  • Participate in all relevant weekly Housing Team meetings, and other meetings
  • Represent HOW with external partners and internal staff
  • Complete reporting requirements as needed and requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED plus related experience
  • 1 Year of admin experience preferably in property management/ asset management field
  • Preferred bilingual English-Spanish
  • Knowledge of homelessness and housing issues.
  • Knowledge of Chicago Landlord/Tenant Ordinance
  • Knowledge of Affordable Housing Practices (Housing First, Harm Reduction)
  • Comfortable working with diverse groups of people including: Homeless population and LGBT
  • Excellent oral and written communication; exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, and data management systems such as Yardi Voyager.

STARTING SALARY: Salary based on experience, starting at $40,000

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time; regular business hours with some flexibility required. This position is primarily an office position located in Rogers Park. Occasional travel to client units, landlord offices, or for other duties assigned may be required.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs, and walk up and down stairs
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and proof of automobile insurance
  • Must pass applicable background tests
