Position Status: Salaried, Exempt

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000

Reports To: Director of Operations

California Community Opportunities (CCO) is a private, nonprofit San Jose-based agency providing residential services and lifelong learning to adults with developmental and physical disabilities through the Family Teaching Model. CCO is hiring dependable, compassionate, person-centered and approachable Behavior Analyst to support the individuals and the staff who reside and work at CCO.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Behavior Analyst is to ensure a high quality of life for persons served by gently and respectfully addressing inappropriate behavior, with an emphasis on preventing and teaching alternative behaviors through the provision of enriched environments and alternative activities and choices. The CCO Behavior Analysts participates in the development of training programs for CCO staff and provides expertise and support to aid teachers as they teach skills and engage individuals in daily living.

Specific Duties, not limited to:

· Provide critical support in the development of individualized programs and support plans for each person, including the development of skills and behavior management teaching plans, individualized schedules and strategies for prevention and intervention

· Ensure well-trained and motivated staff by leading training and ongoing development of Family Teaching Couples and teaching counselors who support the individuals served.

· Coordinate and participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings to help with addressing and reducing maladaptive behaviors and providing positive behavior supports. Work with the individual, teachers and family etc. to develop routines and plans that may make it more likely that adaptive, or appropriate, behavior will occur. 

· Develop and revise Individual Support Plans (ISP), including developing, reviewing, and approving behavior programs, teaching programs, and participation plans in collaboration with teachers and other members of the Clinical Team and admin team to improve communication and behavioral skills over time.

· Support the preparation and review data of Individual’s Quarterly Reports, and attend Quarterly Meetings with team as needed.

· Review and prepare data for psychiatric appointments and attend or provide support during psychiatric appointments for persons served as needed.

· Support the CommUniversity (CommU) day program by developing lesson plans and teaching a skill-based class to adults with disabilities, twice a week. Observe and provide in-person coaching and feedback during day program classes, activities or community outings.

· Assist in ongoing Quality Assurance (QA) feedback by monitoring and continuously evaluating individual and home data while ensuring the 10 quality outcomes are being upheld in their homes, day program and communities with monthly visits to the home.

· Participate in the initiation of services process, as requested by the Director of Operations, including potential referral packet reviews, meet and greets, observations and transition meetings to bring new individuals into CCO’s services.

· Work in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Family Teachers, Program Manager and RN to plan for any potential behavioral crisis intervention supports that may be needed and provide on-call help if a crisis occurs.

· Develop strategies that may include additional staff, services, consultative support at the home/program of an individuals to provide a supportive environment to keep that person and other healthy and safe.

· Take a lead role in ensuring that other clinical practices, which are dictated by clinical professionals such as physicians, psychiatrists, registered nurses etc. are implemented by Family Teachers withing daily routines and schedules.

· Use reinforcements and approaches in natural environments, such as their home, workplace, community or day program, to empower individuals to employ the skills they learn in more generalized, everyday situations.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in applied behavioral science, special education, psychology, human development or a related discipline;

· Two-three years of prior experience in a position of similar scope is preferred;

· Competency in applied behavioral analysis and or positive behavioral supports; data collection, reduction, and analysis; knowledge of human developmental psychology; and skill in developing and writing behavior reduction and skill acquisition plans;

· Experience teaching, training, or coaching a variety of different education levels and backgrounds;

· Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred;

· Strong interpersonal communication skills;

· Ability to carry a cell phone and participate in an on-call rotation schedule;

· High energy level, adaptability, patient, person-centered and ability to work in a team

Proof of a valid driver’s license, an ability to maintain automobile liability insurance as required by state law in California, and an ability to qualify as a driver under CCO insurance. Ability to pass a physical and drug screen.

Employment shall be contingent upon the results of fingerprint clearance, a check of applicable abuse and neglect reports developed and monitored by the State of California, the Department of Developmental Disabilities, and Adult Protective Service agencies as specified in Welfare and Institutions Code Section 4689.2.
