JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Manager

EMPLOYER: Twelfth One, LLC dba Aspen Infusion

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

REPORTS TO: Director of Pharmacy

SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Manager will oversee the management of assigned team members and pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Manager will direct high-quality pharmacy services ensuring medication is dispensed correctly, and monitoring inventory levels in accordance with established policies, procedures, and laws regulating pharmacy practice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist DOP with assigned pharmacy and operations functions to ensure effective operations.
  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations, practices, and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Establish processes and goals for the assigned pharmacy personnel in conjunction with the DOP and monitor these goals on a consistent basis, reporting results to the DOP and President.
  • Assist DOP in recruitment, hiring, and training of new Pharmacy staff members
  • Supervise and hold accountable current staff to ensure they carry out the goals of the company.
  • Assist DOP with maintaining schedules to ensure adequate staffing to meet the business needs. 
  • Provides and/or oversees compounding, dispensing, and clinical monitoring services prescribed by physicians or other mid-level practitioners and authorized medical personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct meetings with members of the pharmacy staff at regular intervals.
  • Assist the DOP with annual performance evaluations of the pharmacy professionals.
  • Establish annual performance goals and monitor progress toward these goals on a consistent basis.
  • Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients.
  • Assume PIC responsibilities in the absence of the DOP and as directed.
  • Perform all pharmacist duties as needed.
  • Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints. 
  • Assume on-call responsibilities as needed. 
  • Report product incidents as required in accordance with company policy. 
  • Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies. 
  • Participate in the company’s Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator. 
  • Participate in company committees when requested. 
  • Participate in in-service education programs provided by the company. 
  • Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and certification requirements. 
  • Report any misconduct, suspicious, or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MANAGER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees assigned personnel, development, and implementation of procedures to:
  • Manage pharmacy staff including hiring, training, leading, coaching, and evaluating
  • Accountable for implementation and adherence to the Performance Improvement program and ensures that the pharmacy complies with accreditation standards.
  • Limit risk management and safety exposure in the pharmacy.
  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations, practices and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state and federal agencies.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pharmacy Degree.
  • Arizona Board of Pharmacy Licensure. 
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Hospital, Clinic, and Home Infusion Experience. 
  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records. 
  • Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions. 
  • Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations including USP 797. 
  • Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Continually required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals 
  • Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
