Reports to: Sr. Economic Prosperity Programs Director

Opening Doors began in 1993 as a small refugee resettlement agency, and today serves over 3,000 clients per year across our 5 program areas: Refugee Programs, Survivors of Trafficking Programs, Immigration Legal Services, Health Programs and Economic Prosperity Programs.

Ideal candidate: The ideal candidate will spearhead the initiative to guide Opening Doors in achieving CDFI certification, playing a pivotal role in enhancing our ability to serve underrepresented communities through innovative financial solutions. This individual will be responsible for assessing and addressing the financial needs of our clients, with a special focus on small business lending. They will conduct a thorough analyses of our financial services’ impact, ensuring alignment with our goals of portfolio growth, service excellence, credit quality and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work effectively in multi-cultural work environments, showing respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and will be passionate about Opening Doors’ mission.

Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Coordinate the efforts of Opening Doors in navigating the process of obtaining CDFI certification, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and fostering an environment of financial inclusion and empowerment.
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio growth, customer service, credit quality, and expense results. Identify and implement corrective action where performance gaps exist within budgeted targets.
  • Manage the administration of microlending grants, ensuring compliance and effective utilization of funds in alignment with grant objectives.
  • Actively participate in community outreach efforts, including engaging with churches and other community organizations, disseminating literature, and providing presentations to groups about the microenterprise program.
  • Establish and foster productive relationships with regional peers, community organizations, and local businesses to enhance service delivery and financial service opportunities.
  • Oversee lending operations and participate in strategy development, ensuring procedures align with community needs and regulatory standards, while also focusing on risk assessment and compliance.
  • Provide written and/or oral reports to management and/or the loan committee supporting recommendations for loan approval.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on loan policies, procedures and processes.

Required Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • At least one (1) year experience working with a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) or three (3) years’ experience in small business banking or lending, small business advisory services, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the small business ecosystem and various factors that influence the supply and demand for loans, including interest rates, borrower profiles, economic conditions, and social factors like trust and community relationships.
  • Knowledge of financial and collateral documentation required for small business loans.
  • Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and willingness to learn loan processing/tracking software and systems maintained by the organization.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications: The requirements listed below are not required but are desired.

  • Experience using loan processing programs.
  • Familiarity with Financial Services Legislation requirements.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
