Special Education Building Coordinator
Purpose Statement
The job of Special Education Building Coordinator is done for the purpose of coordinating assigned special education program components and related activities for individual students with disabilities; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.
This job reports to Director - Special Service
Essential Functions
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Assists building teams in their review of data (e.g. IEP development, student assessment data, IDEA and State regulations, etc.) for the purpose of providing best practice decisions for instruction.
Collaborates with district personnel, other districts, community and state agencies for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Coordinates developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
Coordinates program components, support needs and material for the purpose of delivering services that conform to federal and state regulations and established district guidelines.
Facilitates meetings and professional development activities (e.g. department/support meetings, district staff meetings, IEP meetings, conduct reevaluation meetings as necessary, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services which achieve district's desired objectives.
Implements and evaluates special education programs and/or projects for the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives within area of responsibility.
Manages assigned programs and/or services for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to program objectives and ensuring conformance with legal and district requirements and provision of services.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, data analysis, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Researches a variety of topics in curriculum and instructional practices for the purpose of providing information, recommendations, and/or addressing a variety of program requirements.
Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
Education: Masters degree in job-related area.
