Sol Systems is Hiring a Director of Project Management, Distributed Generation Near Washington, DC

Sol Systems is seeking a full-time Distributed Generation Director of Project Management. We are seeking an individual who can successfully manage commercial projects from bid to construction and hand-off to Asset Management. Director of Project Management will work with a wide range of external counterparties and internal teams and will be responsible for delivering projects from pre-NTP stage through Commercial Operation and Final Completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction responsibilities:

  • Successfully administer EPC and PPA contracts to manage contractor budgets, schedules, changes to scope and administrative issues for commercial projects ranging in size from 1 to 10 MWdc.
  • Lead project meetings with EPC partners, perform site visits and actively manage installation for quality and safety as Owner and Customer, to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Lead project meetings with Customers.
  • Develop and evolve internal processes to more effectively deliver projects.
  • Manage 3rdparty contractors/consultants, such as construction managers and engineers, as they work to support delivery efforts.
  • Understand how site control, interconnection, permitting, PPA, and incentive issues impact construction risk and execution.
  • Understand the PV equipment market for leading module, racking, and inverter equipment types; be able to forecast risks associated with different equipment types and their impact on construction schedules and budgets.
  • Versed in EPC Contract commercial terms to represent Owner and mitigate risk during construction.
  • Versed in PPA Contract commercial terms to report progress and coordinate milestones with Customer to mitigate concerns and risks.
  • Support Business Development in responding to RFPs, creating project schedules, negotiating PPA terms.
  • Support Development in addressing Customer questions during the project development phase.

A successful candidate will possess the following competencies, skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years work experience in solar energy, with a focus on rooftops
  • On-site or general contracting experience a plus
  • Highly organized and deadline oriented with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Energetic, willing to learn, grow and work with the team
  • Highly proficient in project management tools and software, including Procore
  • Understanding of solar PV equipment, installation, and industry best practices
  • Development and engineering experience a plus

Location & Hours: This is a full-time role; while the position can be remote, candidate can expect to travel to Sol's Washington, DC headquarters approx. once per month, and to project sites as dictated by project needs.
