Job Title: Landscaping Manager

Location: Primarily stationed at Lake Terrace Convention Center; but work requires travel to all Hattiesburg Convention Commission facilities. These include the Saenger Theater, African American Military History Museum, Eureka School Museum, and the Hattiesburg Zoo.

Position Type: Full-time

Job Description: We are currently seeking a talented and knowledgeable individual to oversee the landscaping operations at Lake Terrace Convention Center. The Landscaping Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of landscape maintenance, enhancement projects, and groundskeeping activities to ensure the beauty, safety, and functionality of our outdoor spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive landscaping plans and schedules to maintain the appearance and health of all outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and parking lots.
  • Supervise a team of groundskeepers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance of duties.
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of landscaping projects, including planting, pruning, mulching, fertilizing, watering, and pest control, in accordance with seasonal needs and budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor the condition of plants, trees, shrubs, and implement appropriate measures to address issues such as disease, pests, or environmental stress.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement, and develop action plans accordingly.
  • Manage the procurement of landscaping supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper inventory levels and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate landscaping activities with event schedules and facility maintenance operations, minimizing disruptions and ensuring a seamless guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and safety standards related to landscaping practices, equipment operation, and chemical handling.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to landscaping activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and inventory reports.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement among landscaping staff, promoting a positive work environment and a commitment to excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in landscaping management or a similar role, with demonstrated expertise in landscape design, maintenance practices, and project management.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of employees.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment and tools, as well as knowledge of irrigation systems and plant care techniques.
  • Familiarity with local climate conditions, plant species, and landscaping trends.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
