Trinity Christian Academy is seeking for highly motivated, detail-oriented, experienced Preschool Lead Teacher who is passionate about God to join its growing faculty for the school year. This individual works closely with the Director and teaching staff to create a safe and nurturing environment following the Preschool model of early childhood education and Christian-based curriculum in line with the mission of Trinity Christian Academy.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Is responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
  • Observes all rules and regulations of regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
  • Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children.
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children.
  • Incorporate daily Christian themes and biblical teachings in the program, including the use of the Chapel once a week.
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, crafts etc.)
  • Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
  • Observe, record and report individual and group behavior; Maintain records and files as instructed (i.e., attendance, behavior records)
  • Communicates all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and the director, suggesting ways to promote learning and development.
  • Opens classroom in morning, greets parents and children, assists in making a smooth transition.
  • Reports any medical problems and accidents to other staff and to the parents.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
  • Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
  • Participation in Preschool special events occasionally in the evenings and for mandatory special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with adults and children.
  • Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to provide activities for children that encourage healthy growth.
  • Ability to exercise control and maintain classroom discipline.
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with teachers, support staff, parents, and students in a positive and constructive way.
  • Must have a compassionate attitude and a growth mindset to develop young minds and inspire a love of learning.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education programs and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in early childhood or child development education or Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with preschool-age children in a classroom setting, preferably with one year as lead teacher.
  • Has completed the 45 Hour DCF Intro to Child Care training mandated by the county and state licensing agencies or willing to complete.
  • Current infant/child CPR and first aid certification or willing to become certified prior to start date.
