How Youll Make an Impact

The Operations Manager for our Fife, WA Division will have a broad range of responsibilities covering all areas of operations, production. They will provide strategic and tactical direction to production teams to ensure customer needs are met, as well as ensuring that machine capacity and manpower are sufficient to meet future demand. Planning manufacturing operations, ensuring operational efficiency, productivity, quality, and on-time deliveries are all essential to this role.

What Youll be doing as an Operations Manager

  • Working a Full-time, salaried position onsite at our Fife, WA location.
  • Provide shopfloor leadership and drives actions to improve Operations performance.
  • Coach, train and develop direct leads and hourly employees to maintain a positive work environment, productivity, quality, and efficient operations.
  • Leads the design, development, and implementation of improved manufacturing processes. Manages methods to generate improved workflow, capacity optimization, sustainability and higher ROI.
  • Works collaboratively among different departments. Identify areas where bottle necks occur and work to minimize impact.
  • Determines resource requirements and ensures that assigned department(s) have adequate resources to perform assigned tasks.
  • Drive daily execution to achieve on time delivery to customer orders at profitable margins.
  • Develops, maintains, and meets or exceeds requirements for a safe work environment; ensure that stringent housekeeping, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and safety procedures and practices are followed.
  • Sets daily, weekly, and monthly targets for machining centers and work cells.
  • Ensure target efficiencies and performance measures are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure that production activities are cost effective.
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Monitor quality measures and implement quality control programs.
  • Review the performance of team members against stated objectives and provide consistent constructive feedback.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement activities such as kaizen, layout, SMED, etc., in order to improve productivity of the operation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Attributes:

  • Exhibits and demands high ethical standards in relations with personnel, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, train and develop others.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, maintain organization and focus despite numerous interruptions.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement activities, lean manufacturing, six sigma principles.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 8 years manufacturing industry experience in roles with increasing responsibilities. Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Hands on experience with Manual/CNC Machining (Mills and/or Lathes) is preferred.
  • High-level understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Experience with MS applications and MRP systems preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of analytical tools, training, and presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience building and developing high performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, tools, and techniques.

Work Environment:

A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Employee Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, long-term disability and 401(k) with up to 6% QACA company match.

The Operations Manager Compensation range for onsite Washington applicants is $100,000 - $140,000 annual salary commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
