Job Description:
We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician at our Durango location. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our ophthalmologists in providing exceptional care to our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preliminary patient screenings, including taking medical histories and performing visual acuity tests
  • Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as tonometry, visual field testing, and OCT imaging
  • Prepare patients for examinations by dilating pupils and administering eye drops as directed
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Provide patient education on eye care procedures, medications, and post-operative care instructions
  • Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and other members of the healthcare team to ensure the highest standards of patient care

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a related healthcare role preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and colleagues
  • Attention to detail and the ability to accurately document patient information
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and procedures is desirable but not required (training will be provided)
  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or willingness to pursue certification within one year of employment
