As a Withdrawal Counselor/Therapist (LADC/LMHP) at The Bridge you will provide professional level counseling/therapy for the treatment and rehabilitation of clients referred for substance use/mental health.

Serving as the safety net during a person’s first steps toward change, Withdrawal Counselors/Therapists (LADC/LMHP) play a vital role in the recovery process. Working as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, including Recovery Advocates, Counselors/Therapists, and Nurses, you will collaborate to provide a comprehensive, integrated, and individualized approach to client care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE WITHDRAWAL COUNSELOR/THERAPIST (LMHP/LADC) AT THE BRIDGE INCLUDE:

  • Help The Bridge foster and maintain a welcoming, trauma-informed, and safe environment for all clients.
  • Responsibilities of the Withdrawal Counselor/Therapist include work in the 12 Core Functions (screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling/therapy, case management, crisis intervention, client education, reports and record keeping, consultation with other professionals) 
  • Conduct substance use evaluations using standardized assessment tools to determine client’s current needs.
  • Lead psychoeducational groups as needed.
  • Conduct counseling/therapy sessions with clients in Withdrawal.
  • Development and update of treatment plans and documenting client preferences during their stay.
  • Responsible for the effective development and update/recording of counselor/therapy progress notes and discharge summaries. 
  • Conduct and coordinate clinical case-management, including ongoing contact and coordination with probation, parole, diversion officers, case workers, therapists/counselors, family members, and/or any outside source involved with the client, in a manner that aligns with the clients’ individual treatment goals and objectives.
  • Provide crisis intervention and assessment of each client’s stability and functioning following a crisis event.
  • Complete timely documentation in the agency’s electronic health record (Credible).
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports daily to ensure all clinical files are current and meet accreditation and various payer regulations and guidelines as well as meet best practice guidelines.
    • Complete all required documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Make appropriate referrals for client’s treatment based on client need.
  • Participate in clinical team staffing as indicated by caseload/licensure. Document the staffing decisions and implement the appropriate treatment.
  • Attend and participate in monthly team meetings and quarterly all staff training as directed.
  • Participate in regular supervision meetings with Director of Clinical Services.
  • Complete all monthly and annual online e-learning courses on time, in compliance with state and accrediting organizations training requirements.
  • Participate in training activities and credentialing through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation, Licensure and Credentialing Division, as well as the Nebraska Office of Justice Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensure as Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP/PLMHP) or Licensure as Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/PLADC) 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

PREFERRED: 

  • Experience working one on one with clients (case-management, counseling, therapy). 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Two years of experience working with people with substance use histories.
  • Ability to work within a team concept, establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients, and coordinate with other community agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to utilize 12-step programming and other treatment modalities effectively.
  • Ability to look at problems analytically and solve them creatively.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work with personnel with all levels of expertise.
  • Must have the ability to learn and become proficient in a variety of electronic and web-based platforms to include Credible and Microsoft Office
  • Must have the ability to work with persons of multiple ethnic, racial, cultural and varied economic backgrounds.
