This position will be located at Tricon's global headquarters in Houston, TX. The Junior Market Intelligence Analyst is responsible for the market analysis of various commodity markets. The role will assess supply and demand drivers in a global context, monitor market developments, inform the commercial team about prevailing trends and potential market disruptions, prepare periodic reports and presentations for both internal and external use, and communicate with key areas of the organization including the commercial and risk management teams.

Responsibilities 

• Assist in collecting, validating, and compiling data from various sources to support the Market Intelligence Team’s analysis.
• Create presentations for market intelligence team, according to communications and branding design guidelines.
• Help maintain market models with the latest data, incorporating new market trends and adjusting assumptions accordingly.
• Standardize and format models and presentations to align with company branding guidelines, ensuring visual appeal and consistency.
• Support Market Intelligence Analysts in executing analytical projects, including preliminary data analysis and research tasks.
• Conduct secondary research to gather insights to complement research conducted by Market Intelligence Analysts.
• Utilize data visualization tools to create impactful charts and graphs for presentations and reports.
• Help the Market Intelligence Team collaborate with various departments to provide support and informed strategic decision making.
• Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of market intelligence tools, techniques, and industry trends.
• Work with the communications team to develop materials for external and internal sharing

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or similar field)
• 1-2 years relevant experience (preferred)
• Basic knowledge of commodity markets (petrochemicals, fuels, polymers)
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Demonstrated presentation, formatting and analytical capabilities
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI etc).
• Dynamic interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Willingness and ability to work independently; be a self-starter
• Capacity to work under time-sensitive business and reporting deadlines within a team setting
