JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Quality will provide strategic insight and management over the quality function.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and implements quality plans and standards and coordinates quality activities such as the Non-Conformance process, Supplier Quality and Development, Program Quality support, Incoming Inspection, Final Inspection and DCMA coordination.
  • Builds and maintains a QMS framework and Strategy aligned with Leadership vision and direction.
  • Implements and manages continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department. Implements changes in training, working practices and processes.
  • Assures compliance with corporate & local government safety, health & environmental rules, policies & procedures.
  • Maintains AS9100 / ISO9001 Certification.
  • Works very closely and effectively with functional teams to ensure we meet customers’ expectations.
  • Develops and revises standard operational procedures and working practices, i.e. standard work.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational & quality performance.
  • Drives daily management of the quality function and drives the development of action plans where needed.
  • Trains, coaches and assists teams in RCCM/RCCA structured problem solving.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Supports and develops the Chemring culture by instilling the values in all activities.
  • Responsible for the training and development program for team members.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Leads the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, recruitment, training, development, feedback, disciplinary issues and daily supervision.
  • Sets department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
Requirements:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred) or a related field of study
  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Lean Six Sigma training preferred
  • RCCM / RCCA structured problem solving training
  • ASQ Certifications preferred: Quality Manager/Organizational Excellence, Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Auditor

EXPERIENCE

  • Ten or more years of applicable experience leading Quality functions.
  • Ten or more years leading and developing teams.
  • Prior AS9100/ISO9001 experience required.
  • Experience working with FAR/DFARS requirements in a quality setting.
  • Defense contractor experience in the quality realm preferred.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.
  • Has the ability to function under stress and interact cordially with co-workers to accomplish common tasks.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, sometimes competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Proven ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from audience.
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills. Proven ability to develop and grow top talent.
  • Proven ability to scale operations and/or manage the development quality procedures for new products from prototype to full rate production.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP Software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Experience in developing and reporting on key quality metrics.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer. Occasional Travel < 20%.
