Prophix is Hiring a Manager, Business Solutions Group Near Portland, OR

The Manager of the Business Solutions Group in the Prophix Portland, OR office oversees all Prophix software implementation projects assigned in the Pacific NW region. The Manager supervises the US-based Professional Services team’s work for customers who buy Prophix software for financial budgeting & reporting, monthly forecasting, personnel planning, and detailed revenue planning. Our software solutions require our Professional Services team to have familiarity with accounting/business practices and technical expertise. The Manager oversees the design of each Prophix software solution deployed, ensuring best practices are used by all team members.

Responsibilities:

I. Supervise day-to-day team activities:

  • Audit the work each person has performed on their client projects.
  • Review detailed project plans and provide recommendations regarding priorities, scope and budget.
  • Advise team members on how to design and implement each clients' custom-configured software solutions to meet their business needs, applying experience and business/technical expertise to design the best solution for each client.
  • Coach team members on dealing with difficult client situations.
  • Conduct business requirements gathering sessions with clients to understand their business needs, particularly for large complex projects.
  • Review the needs of the client with team members and assume an advisory role until project completion.
  • Attend weekly client project status meetings.

II. Staff recruitment & development:

  • Hire new Professional Services staff.
  • Conduct semi-annual performance reviews.
  • Recommend promotions and/or salary increases for staff.
  • Approve absence and leave requests.

III. Lead semi-weekly staff meetings:

  • Review current projects with each team member.
  • Provide training on software functionality, business/accounting concepts, and soft skills.
  • Advise on best practices regarding use or implementation of Prophix software.
  • Discuss new department initiatives.
  • Discuss scheduling of upcoming client work, time-off requests, etc.

IV. Review team issues with Manager of Services & provide recommendations:

  • Review new projects and confirm selection of appropriate personnel.
  • Advise how to resolve scheduling conflicts and project escalations.
  • Review staff performance.

V. Department level management responsibilities with head office:

  • Participate in semi-monthly leadership meetings with Professional Services management.
  • Participate in weekly technical meetings with Business Solutions Group.
  • Advise other department personnel (Sales and Product Development).

VI. Other:

  • Advise on office logistics (e.g., leasing arrangements, space optimization).
  • Arrange team events, training & development sessions.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent to the degree through a combination of education and experience as determined by a qualified education equivalency evaluation agency. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification in the US or Canada. 7 years of relevant experience as a business solutions architect, business analyst, professional services consultant, or similar roles, that includes the following experience/knowledge/skills, which may have been gained concurrently:

  • 7 years’ Prophix software implementation experience in a variety of industry settings.
  • 3 years’ business experience in accounting or finance.
  • 3 years’ managerial experience involving all aspects of staff supervision.
  • 3 years’ experience leading software implementation projects involving project management, business requirements gathering, design, and deployment.
  • 3 years’ experience applying generally accepted accounting principles, including: GAAP or IFRS, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, Accounting/Finance Key Performance Indicators.
  • 3 years’ experience with accounting software MS Dynamics 365, Oracle, or Sage 100/X3.
  • 3 years’ experience with advanced MS Excel features including formulas, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
  • 2 years’ technical experience with database querying, ETL processes, and SSIS packages.
  • 1 year’s experience conducting training for internal team members and external clients.
  • 1 year’s experience applying Project Management methodologies, including Waterfall vs. Agile method, SWOT analysis.
