BeAbove World Wide Institute Inc. is a nonprofit children’s organization that provides quality Center Based, Home Based and Family childcare for families in the Queens, Brooklyn and Bronx communities. Our schools support all aspects of children’s growth and development in a safe and nurturing environment. BeAbove provides a sound educational foundation for children’s academic growth. Our program provides comprehensive services for children and their families in keeping with our philosophy that the caregiver is the child’s primary teacher.

This is a 12-month position. Hours are 7:30am-4:30pm

1. Supports the mission, vision and philosophy of B’Above Worldwide Institute. Complies willingly with all organizational policies and procedures.

2. Supports all functions that attain and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.

4. Provides for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.

General Description

The Family worker supports family services and family engagement activities. They are responsible for the recruitment, eligibility determination and enrollment of families into the program. They track the placement and discharge of children and ensures that program census is maintained. The Family Worker is responsible for completing files, maintaining partnership with families, family assessments including but not limited to Family Assessments, Nutrition assessments and Child Profiles.

Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintains a proper caseload

2. Assists families with eligibility determination and enrollment. Ensures all required documents are completed and filed in program folders.

3. Conduct recruitment activities to ensure program maintain budgeted enrollment

4. Tracks children’s attendance follows up with families on absences

5. Follows up on all overdue medicals, works with parents to ensure submission. Ensures children’s required health and screening records are accurate and current, in accordance with DOE and DOHMH regulations.

6. Collaborates with community agencies to identify resources for parents.

7. With other staff, plans and facilitates monthly new parent orientation and parent meetings.

8. Partners with families to complete Family Assessments and make referrals as needed to meet identified needs.

9. Assist in facilitating workshops and other activities for family’s children and families.

Other Duties

10. Completes other tasks as assigned

Position Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a High School diploma and a Family Development Credential (FDC) (or willing to receive an FDC). Associate Degree in Human Services or related field or Child Development Associate Credential (preferred).

2. Knowledge of Head Start and DOE preferred

3. Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows application is required.

4. Bilingual Spanish and or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) speaking Required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33,280.00 - $35,000.00 per year
