The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for safely maintaining and repairing guards, bunkers, catwalks, hoppers, conveyors, and other mining equipment. Must maintain a high standard of personal safety and the safety of others. The Maintenance Mechanic must have a strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to trouble shoot and repair problems as they occur as well as diagnosing and performing mechanical repair and preventive maintenance.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal functionality.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical issues and repair or replace defective components. Identify the root cause of problems and implement effective solutions. Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential issues and address them before they escalate. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Repairs: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns or malfunctions. Conduct repairs, replacements, and adjustments to restore equipment to working order.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and any other relevant information. Keep track of equipment manuals and technical documentation.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks. Identify and address safety hazards promptly.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other maintenance staff, production personnel, and management to ensure effective communication and a smooth workflow.
Training: Stay informed about new technologies and advancements in maintenance practices. Provide training to other team members as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Technical Skills: Proficient in mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other relevant technologies. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
Troubleshooting Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and address mechanical issues efficiently.
Physical Fitness: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various positions.
Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members, management, and other stakeholders.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Experience: Previous experience in maintenance or a related field is often preferred.
Certifications: Possession of relevant certifications or licenses may be required depending on the industry and location.
