Position Title: Portfolio Manager
Reports To: Commercial Portfolio Team Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Portfolio Manager supports assigned lenders who have sales responsibilities. This individual will assist lenders to manage growth, risk and profitability of a commercial loan portfolio by focusing on areas related to credit administration including, but not limited to, credit analysis, drafting of term sheets and commitment letters, closing loans, generating file memos, and conducting property inspections. This individual must have the ability to manage commercial and real estate credit relationships and leverage technology to achieve operational efficiencies. All Portfolio Manager activities must be consistent with the Bank’s policies and procedures, including underwriting, commitment, and closing. Portfolio Managers are expected to be involved in community initiatives in support of the communities the Bank serves.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*:
- Analyzes the business credit applicant’s management capacity, financial condition, ability to repay, collateral support, and business and industry position and environment to make sound credit decisions consistent with Bank policies and procedures.
- Prepares loan presentations for lender approval, management loan committee, and the Board of Directors as required under Bank’s loan policy, including loan pricing, structure, and terms recommendations.
- Assists in review of construction loan advances and line of credit advances, conducts property inspections, follows up loan renewals, and assists in collection of loans.
- Prepares commitment letters, coordinates and reviews loan documents; partners with loan assistants and attorneys to ensure loan documents reflect the approved loan structure, may coordinate the closing of loans.
- Manages existing commercial relationships and monitors for risk and credit quality and prepares criticized asset report consistent with Bank’s internal risk rating practices, maintains accurate current ratings on Bank systems.
- Represents the Bank in various civic and community functions to further enhance its image and develop additional business.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommends other Bank financial services when appropriate.
- Keeps abreast of legal, regulatory, and economic conditions impacting the marketplace and banking relationships.
- Collaborates with Credit team to help ensure smooth workflow and efficient support of client needs.
- Observes safety and security procedures and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in business related program and a minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lending and credit analysis within a financial institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven analytical and skills.
Demonstrated ability to leverage technology for operational efficiencies.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and solid attention to detail.
Familiar with regulations pertaining to deposit and/or lending operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards.
Minimal physical effort required. Normally seated with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
Handling of light materials and supplies (up to 20 pounds).
